I must confess, reading about healthy dessert recipes is not nearly as much fun as searching for the "ultimate chocolate, ooey-gooey, nutty explosion" of a dessert, but at some time in your search for the ultimate dessert you may begin to realize you cannot always eat that way.
The search for recipes brought me to a lot of them claiming to be healthy, but were still loaded with fat and sugar. Each time I wondered what they were referring to as healthy.
The time had come to start converting some old favorites to a healthier version and also look for more desserts where one of the main ingredients would be fruit or a healthy grain, and would also be less fat and less sugar.
It takes time to change over from eating really unhealthy foods, but given time (could be as short as a few weeks or a few months) your taste will change and chances are you will not want to go back to the old way.
Hope you enjoy making a few new recipes...maybe even some new ingredients you have not yet tried. The chocolate pudding with strawberry topping, which is one of my healthy dessert recipes and easy to make, was served at a dinner we had after one of our meetings, and no one had any idea the pudding was made with tofu. Maybe this recipe is a good place to start!
Joe Cross, who wrote Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, says, "We spend the first 40 years of our lives trying to kill ourselves, and the last 40 years trying to stay alive!"
When it comes to eating, the bullet proof days of our youth will someday come to an end. So then, what do we do? Do all of life's previous enjoyments just come to an end?
I think we go down an new path. So, let's get on with the healthier eating now.
